Welcome to the Show House
One week down, one and a half to go! Last week, the world was introduced to the 64th Annual Indiana Decorators' Show House, set in the heart of the prestigious Meridian-Kessler neighborhood. Known for its timeless charm, we couldn’t imagine a more fitting backdrop for what is arguably one of the most distinguished show houses in the country.
We’re incredibly proud to return for a second year—this time bringing The Golden Apple Café & Cocktail Corner to life on the ground floor.
While designing this year’s space was undeniably fun, we would be remiss not to acknowledge the greater purpose behind the event. Each year, this initiative by St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild aims to raise $1 million for the John & Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center. As longtime advocates for mental wellness, both personally and professionally, we’re honored to contribute to such a powerful mission through design.

The Story Behind The Design
Inspiration came easily this year. Rooted in a story as old as time—the tale of Eve—we built this concept around a stunning fabric by our dear friend Kristy Stafford. From that starting point, the narrative unfolded into a warm, uplifting café—a morning retreat designed for connection, stillness and renewal.
This dual-space design comprises the café and an adjoining butler’s pantry, each distinct yet united in its narrative. The café strikes a balance between brightness and moodiness, providing a setting to savor rituals, from morning coffee to conversation. Original artwork by Anna Afshar, including hand-painted birds and a symbolic golden apple, ties the rooms together beautifully.

Thoughtful touches abound:
- A cozy seating area overlooking lush green spaces, featuring furnishings from our friends at Open Gate - also located inside the Indiana Design Center. With fabric from our dear friends at Fabricut.
- Custom drapery from Drapery Street that perfectly coordinates with Kristy’s fabric on the table.
- A cheeky nod to a beloved family matriarch, Sallie’s glamorous Nan, eternally perched in the cupboard with a teacup of bourbon in hand
- Gorgeous Kristy Stafford Wallpaper adorning the cupboards and giving an extra dash of zhush to an often overlooked space.
It’s a room where you can sip tea—literally or figuratively—and feel grounded by good design.

Cocktail Hour Meets Design
Just off the café, we reimagined the butler’s pantry as the ultimate cocktail nook. Anchored by Brizo’s breathtaking Odin faucet and fittings, brought to life by painter Manny from Priority Painting, the space glows with intentionality and style. Manny also executed the standout fifth-wall ceiling treatment in the cafe, adding even more dimension to the narrative.
A Collaborative Dream
Bringing this project to life required a dream team—and we had just that. From concept to completion, we’re endlessly grateful to our partners and collaborators:
- Wallpaper & Fabric: Kristy Stafford
- Drapery: Drapery Street
- Furniture: Open Gate
- Fabric on the Furniture: Fabricut
- Painting: Priority Painting
- Fixtures & Appliances: Ferguson (with special thanks to Jeremy)
- Construction Support: Page Construction
- Original Artwork: Anna Afshar Art
- Plumbing Fixtures: Brizo
