To me this is the official big summer party, like the halftime show of the summer where you really look forward to it and it’s so much fun. A time to get together with friends and family to watch some fireworks and if you are lucky to have your toes splashing in the water. I am lucky enough that for the past few years we have parted our boat right in front of where they launch the fireworks over Geist Lake as we listen to patriotic music.
Here are some top tips to have a successful July 4th summer celebration:
● It’s all about the prep work beforehand to ensure your time that day isn’t running to the store or looking for things. Make your list in advance for food, beverage, and supplies and please, don’t forget the sunscreen & aloe!
● Ideally, it’s best to have your perishable foods kept inside, but if not, get it on ice just like you do your drinks!
● Do something fun, freeze strawberries and blueberries in ice trays with water (or vodka) and add to your beverage for a festive and cold drink.
● Get all-white serving dishes so that your food and flowers/décor are the main attraction.
● Blue hydrangeas and red roses or ranunculus make for a stunning arrangement. Check out your local flower warehouse, if local to NOVA, Metro Flower Market will have it all! Thistle also makes for a great 4th flower to bring in the blue.
● If you are lounging by your pool, we love the look of rolled towels on the lounge chairs to double as pillows. This is always a hit for them to do double duty.
● If you are hosting, you can purchase a bottle like this, labeled sunscreen SPF 50 or whatever you like to have ready for your guest so your party is memorable on their mind, not their skin.
● Here are some lists for tips, If you have a pool or decking out your backyard.
● If you are trying to figure out what to wear, we love the all white look with pops of red and blue. I know, a shocker coming from us since we are known for pops of color.
We hope this helps to kick off your July 4th celebration! We can’t wait to hear from you after the 4th as we will be a full design force forward in scheduling clients in Indianapolis and of course our Northern, VA area clients.
Cheers and Happy 4th, be safe and have fun in style!

Sallie
