Things are getting real! The new space in the Indianapolis Design Center is ready for us to start moving in. Wow, that happened fast. The time has come to not just pack up the house, myself, the boys, Noble & Jedi, but to pack up GreyHunt. Well, only a little of GreyHunt and a lot of our personal things. Since we are keeping the studio here in VA not much is changing for our #GHIDREAMTEAM and clients. I will take only a few things with me and start fresh there on the design side. I have been ordering lots of samples that have shipped to our Indy home. Poor Judd must be getting a workout taking all the boxes to my office upstairs in our Indy home! I am excited to see what the Indianapolis, Geist Lake area design scene is, and social too. With us landing in the center of it at the Indy Design Center, I can’t wait to meet everyone and be part of all the events and education classes there. Heck, I might get caught up on my CEU’s before the end of summer! Just FYI, it’s open to the public as well, so if you are in Carmel/Indianapolis, come on by!
I do think one of the challenges is saying goodbye to my home. I call her Pondie. I found shelter with her in the middle of one of the darkest, hardest storms of my life and she gave me shelter, protection, light, beauty and so so many wonderful memories. As I measured Greyson & Hunter on the door just 2 nights ago and placed that mark, I realized they have grown almost 2 feet since we moved in. Every emotion has been had in this home. Huge milestones in my life and the kids have happened here. From tears to laughing so hard, more tears fall, from decorating to designing (there is a difference and I love them both), to going into this home as a family of three and preparing to leave as we are a family of 5, plus the cat and dog. I feel so lucky that I found my love with Judd and am so lucky to have a daughter like Mia.
What a journey this has been, I didn’t know how I would ever be able to make it on my own when I arrived at Pondie’s door to the point where I am leaving as the person that provided for my boys and has grown so much in all ways. The blessings have been so many here. She has changed her looks as much as I have changed internally. When you look at where she was when I found her, that was how I felt, worn down and sad. I am leaving as a woman that has blossomed, beautiful and full in all corners of the rooms inside of me. Forever I will love her and be grateful.
I bid my final farewell to her at the end of June, but I will drive by her many times after and wave as I come back to visit family, friends and my clients whom I adore. The clock is ticking on my full-time role here in Virginia, my home since I was 3 years old, but I am very excited for the journey ahead. Oh how sweet it will be to be there and to come back home.
Although I am saying goodbye to Virginia, I am leaving one home to go to another that I love so much. We call this home Lakey. Of course, there is a theme, Pondie has a Pond in front and Lakey is in a lake community and we have the boat and lake life there. When Judd and I first started working on Lakey we really found we loved transforming the house. Well, it hasn’t stopped since that day. In fact, our bathroom is being remodeled right now. I love our house there and love that we are building our story together there as a family. Over the next few months and forever, I will be sharing more and more of our projects and our design dreams for our home. Sure does help when your husband is a designer (industrial) too!
See here for a sneak peak:
With the upcoming move, I will be out of the office June 19th- July 10th. GreyHunt will be closed for summer break June 26th -July 5th.
