What Exactly IS eDÉCOR?
No matter what you may call it (Virtual Design, eDÉCOR, Online Design, or e-Design), virtual interior design services are all-the-rage right now! Not all virtual design services are created equal and it can be difficult to figure out exactly what virtual designers do. With all of this in-mind, we created this “Complete Guide to eDÉCOR” to help you navigate this process and learn just how GHI gets virtual! Whether you’re across the country, or just across the street in quarantine, virtual design allows interior designers to work with their clients while staying remote.
eDÉCOR is what we call our virtual design services here at GreyHunt Interiors. When we opened our doors back in 2009 we began working digitally with remote clients across the country, and abroad. We had no idea that the market for online interior design would grow to the size that it is today! We began doing this long before the age of COVID, but now e-Décor is more important than ever! It’s a great way for us to offer long-distance (or socially-distanced) clients luxurious designs and high-end customer service. You get the GreyHunt quality and experience, with the convenience of the Internet!
How Does It Work? (The Process)
Every interior design firm has a different design process, but we all (generally) follow these 3 simple steps. Though we’ve broken the process down, we do know that every project is unique, and can modify our process to fit any requirements. (Have questions? Feel free to reach out to us).
Step 1- The Consultation:
Working with us virtually always begins with a design consultation and a questionnaire. We begin by getting to know our clients, their needs, and their design style, which all stems from the questionnaire. By having our clients fill out a questionnaire, it gives us some background info about both them and their project. Next, we move on to a virtual consultation. We collaborate and communicate with each client in a way that is tailored to their needs. Whether you want to have a video conference, a phone call, a virtual presentation, or just email us; we make working together a seamless experience! We’re all about enjoying the design process, and clear communication is so crucial to that!
Once we’ve established what you’re looking for, and how you’ll use your space, we begin to gather more information and do a virtual walk-through of your space. (This will include measurements, existing furniture information, and photos or videos of the space, so that we can get started on the design process!)
Step 2- The Design:
Next, off-screen and #IRL, our team gets busy working our design magic! Our virtual clients get the same personal attention & white-glove customer service from our owner and lead designer, Sallie J. Lord.Whether you choose to do a quick refresh of your space, or do an all-out re-design, we’ll send you visual aids and fabrics/finish samples for your approval. Step 3- The Finished Product:
The exact deliverables depend on each project’s exact size & scope (click here, to see the exact e-Décor packages that we offer), but every client receives a vision board & a floor plan! While working with virtual clients, we also give them access to our online Digital Design Platform. Think of this as your “design home-base”. Here, we store and share important documents, finish selections, design layouts, invoices and more with you. Once we’re all done with the design process, we’re still here for you. Needing some final pointers, installation advice, or styling tips? We can still assist you remotely! We tailor & personalize each-and-every project to our client’s exact needs and specifications.

- What if I’m not a Tech Wiz? No problem! We work with clients of all ages and technological skill sets, and can customize our form of communication to work best for you. (Snail Mail is even an option!)
