It's hard to believe that it has been a year since we packed up our Cadillac and part of GreyHunt and set cruise control as we drove to Indiana. Time has flown by as we set up the design studio (big thanks to Kara & Noah), the house, and kids at school, and really began designing for construction of our home. I know that is not a shocker to anyone! Lots of great things, but being together is the best!
One of my favorite things about living in Indy is that we live right by Geist Lake. It has the most stunning sunsets, friends, and I love our time on our boat floating in the water. It gives me time to reflect on how blessed we are. The boys adjusted well to their new schools: Purdue for Hunter and HSE for Greyson as a freshman. We are still learning our way around the area but enjoying the ride, especially if it's on the boat.
The "Women Build It" event was really a statement event for me & GreyHunt. I met Kathleen from Mont & B.A.G.I., who builds dreams (and houses), and Diana from Ferguson's, who was a big fan of Judd's design and teaching. Amy and Marissa from Thread Design wove their way into my heart, and Camilla from Custom Living Design showed me that Midwest nice isn't just a myth—it's a truth!
I still can't get over how much we have gotten into this past year, and I am so grateful for a community that has embraced me and GreyHunt Interiors.
Here are some highlights:
• Rocked out with Chris Stapleton at Lucas Oil Stadium
• Had a wonderful stay at Bottleworks Hotel and hung out at the Bottleworks district
• Was honored to be asked to design a room for the Indianapolis
• Decorators ShowHouse and snagged "Rookie of the Year"
• Started taking Indy clients
• Witnessed the solar eclipse and was in the direct path, which was pretty cool!
• Visited Purdue many times to see Hunter and enjoyed the Union there
• Talked design at the IDC Spring Show with 3 other panelists who have become my friends, and it was so fun!
• Found our favorite eateries: HCTavern's Lobster Cargo is so good!
• Remodeled our kitchen and laundry room before we even recovered from the bathroom
• Sipped cocktails at 3up rooftop in Carmel
• Graced the cover of Sophisticated Living Indy
• Got published more times than I can count
• Joined the Design Center's Advisory Board
• Partied at Lantz Design for the Traditional Home Launch cover that they were on! Congrats again to them and Gary Nance for the Architecture
• Indulged in too many magical moments at Cake Bake Shop
• Became OrthoIndy's most loyal customer
• Enjoyed the most beautiful sunsets sipping wine on my dear friend's deck on the lake
My favorite moments are still the quiet ones at home, probably because they're so rare. I love that our business is thriving in two states, the boys are doing well, Mia is doing great, and Judd and I are thrilled that we are all living in the Crossroads of America together.
