I agree that everyday should be like Valentine’s Day. That you shouldn’t need a reminder to tell your loved ones that you adore and love them. If you are human, and I bet you are if you are reading this, you know that we all fall a little short on expressing these heartfelt emotions to our loved ones. Valentine’s Day is a reminder holiday to pause, put in a little extra effort and profess your feelings as if it was the first moment you felt them.
That’s right, it’s like when it’s a beautiful evening sky and the moon captures you like a child noticing for the first time. Take the time to embrace those feelings, this day and put forth that extra effort.
For those that are lucky enough to be a couple, we recommend making some thoughtful gestures. Why don’t you style your husband’s nightstand for valentine day? Or display some of his hobbies or passions that aren’t tucked away in the garage or basement?
Here are some design tips whether for your husband or wife that go beyond that day to make them feel special everyday.
Bedroom Talk: Nightstand Styling
Grab a photo of yourself or you as a couple and place it on your spouse’s nightstand. Take something that is special to him like his father’s or grandfather’s cuff links and display them in a bowl or tray. This can hold what is special to him and his watch or other daily pieces. Consider getting his favorite book and putting that under the tray with a watercraft next to the bed. These items can be customized to go with any style or décor and each morning when your spouse wakes & goes to bed they will think and remember this thoughtful gesture and feel loved.
Communicating Passions
What passions does your partner have? Is it something that can be turned into art and be displayed? Would a collage on the wall showcasing it make them feel special? Art is key to any home and this is a great opportunity to showcase them. If you find you don’t have the kind of photos that look art worthy, I would suggest taking some time to take some yourself. The best camera is the one in your hand. If you loved one is into reading, take photos in B&W of the spines of books or an old wood card catalog. Frame up pages from a favorite book. If your love enjoys golf, cars, etc, take photos up close of the textures with a beautiful background. These can be framed and grouped together.
Always Making Room For Loved Ones
Make sure your loved one has space carved out for just them. If they have a favorite chair, buy them a drink table to go next to it.
I hope these tips help to make that day and every day the perfect reminder of your love. Don’t forget to buy the flowers, light the candles, pour the champagne or wine and have a wonderful evening!
With Lots of Love,
Sallie
